GENERAL

  • Where & when is the 2023 HUG?

    In 2023, the event is on Saturday, May 13. The walk start point will be located at Fort York National Historic Site, 250 Fort York Blvd., and will end at Toronto's SickKids, 555 University Ave.

  • Is there a cost to participate?

    Yes. Registration fees are utilized to offset the event cost, allowing us to maximize the impact of fundraising dollars and direct them to research.  


    Registration Rates: 

    • Adult = $30.00 
    • Child = $20.00 

  • How long is the walk?

    The walk is approximately 5km in length. The walk starts at Fort York National Historic site and ends at The Hospital for Sick Children. School buses will be available to shuttle participants back to Fort York, after the HUG.

  • How long is the event?

    • Opens at Fort York with check-in @8:30am  
    • Snacks, entertainment and children’s activities  
    • Opening Ceremonies @10:00am 
    • HUG at 12:00pm followed by Closing Ceremony.   
    • The event ends by 12:30pm 

  • Is there a rain date?

    No, the walk goes on rain or shine.

  • Who can attend the walk and HUG?

    Everyone! The event is family-friendly, and all ages  and abilities are welcome. It is suitable for walkers and wagons. Please, no bicycles, skateboards, or roller blades.

  • Is parking available?

    There is no parking available at the Fort but there are 2 Green P parking lots available.  

    • Green P lot Carpark 271 address: 800 Fleet Street 
    • Green P lot Carpark 266 address: 250 Fort York Blvd. 

  • How do I get there by public transit?

    You can get to Fort York National Historic Site by Bus, Streetcar or Subway. These are the lines and routes that have stops nearby:  


    • Bus: 29, 63, 929 
    • Train: LW 
    • Streetcar: 504, 509, 511

  • How do I register with a specific team?

    1. Head to https://meaganshug.crowdchange.ca/27818 
    2. Click the “REGISTER” button 
    3. Select “Create or Join a Team”  
    4. Search for the team's name & click join  

  • I want to register more than one person?

    After registering yourself, simply select “add registrant”. Once you have added the desired number of people click checkout.

FUNDRAISING/DONATING

  • How can I donate to a specific team?

    1. Head to https://meaganshug.crowdchange.ca/27818 
    2. Click the “DONATE” button 
    3. Select “To a Team”. In the search bar enter the team name you wish to donate to. Click “Donate”  

  • Will I receive a Tax Receipt for my donation?

    Donations over $20 will all receive a tax receipt from the Meagan Bebenek Foundation (operating as Meagan’s HUG).
